Account Manager – Trucking, Logistics & Warehousing

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced, revenue-driven Account Manager to join our logistics team and immediately operate as a producer. You will own and expand customer accounts while prospecting new business, solving shipping challenges, coordinating freight, and ensuring seamless service delivery. The ideal candidate understands trucking, logistics, warehousing, or distribution operations and can begin generating revenue from existing relationships or new daily outbound outreach on Day 1.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Acquisition & Growth

  • Prospect and close new accounts through outbound calls, email outreach, networking, and industry relations
  • Manage inbound leads and convert them into active shipping/warehousing customers
  • Identify growth opportunities within existing accounts — lane expansion, warehousing, consolidation, cross-dock, final mile, etc.
  • Negotiate pricing, service terms, and long-term commercial agreements with customers

Daily Operations & Account Ownership

  • Serve as the main point of contact for shippers, receivers, and logistics partners
  • Coordinate shipments with carrier partners (TL, LTL, drayage, flatbed, reefer, parcel, etc.)
  • Track loads proactively and provide customer updates, issue resolution, and communication through the full shipment life cycle
  • Manage warehousing projects and storage workflows — inbound/outbound scheduling, inventory, pick/pack, distribution, etc.
  • Ensure accurate order entry, billing, and delivery documentation

Carrier & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain carrier relationships, negotiate rates, and secure capacity
  • Work with dispatch, operations, warehouse leads, and 3PL/4PL partners to guarantee execution
  • Maintain carrier compliance — insurance, safety, certifications, and performance
  • Resolve transit issues, damage claims, detention/layover, accessorials, and OS&D events

Customer Strategy & Service

  • Analyze customer shipping patterns, seasonality, and demand to increase service utilization
  • Provide recommendations: consolidation, improved routing, scheduled lanes, cost savings, and inventory strategies
  • Track KPIs including revenue, on-time performance, margin, fill rates, and inventory turnover
  • Prepare account reviews, RFP responses, and custom pricing proposals

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in logistics, trucking, supply chain, warehousing, freight brokerage, or transportation account management
  • Proven track record of generating revenue, securing new accounts, or growing existing customer portfolios
  • Strong understanding of domestic freight modes (TL, LTL, Intermodal, Drayage, Expedited, Hazmat, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of warehousing operations (FBA, cross-dock, pick/pack, short-term storage, dedicated space)
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with high customer expectations and deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Book of business or active shipper/carrier relationships
  • Prior experience working at a 3PL, freight brokerage, asset-based carrier, or warehousing operator
  • Experience using TMS, WMS, CRM, and/or freight rating tools
  • Intermediate Excel/Sheets skills for pricing, forecasting, and margin analysis

Pay: $75,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • 401(k)
  • Health insurance
  • Paid time off

Work Location: In person
