We are seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Accounting Associate with proven track record

We are seeking a detail-oriented, deadline-driven Accounting Associate to join our Accounting & Finance team in San Diego. This role provides critical support to our Accounting/Payroll Manager and CFO while offering opportunities for professional growth in construction accounting, project costing, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Accounts Payable & Data Entry

• Enter and post accounts payable invoices, match with POs, and secure approvals.
• Code and allocate invoices to jobs, cost codes, and GL accounts.
• Prepare weekly AP batches and assist with issuing vendor/subcontractor payments.

Accounts Receivable & Compliance

• Enter and track subcontractor pay applications.
• Monitor subcontractor/vendor compliance (W-9s, insurance, lien waivers).
• Maintain accurate financial records in OneDrive and Procore.

Project & Job Costing

• Support project setup and cost allocation.
• Prepare weekly job cost reports for construction and site services teams.
• Assist with variance analysis, Sage implementation, and financial reporting.

Payroll Support

• Process weekly payroll timesheets using Connecteam.
• Verify wage rates, prevailing wage requirements, and certified payroll compliance.
• Maintain payroll records, job costing, and project coding.

Collaboration & Workflow

• Track and update assignments in Monday.com.
• Assist Accounting/Payroll Manager & CFO in meeting reporting deadlines.
• Provide weekly task summaries and ensure financial records are audit-ready.

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in accounting or finance Construction experience required
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable with accounting systems (quickbooks online Sage, Procore, Microsoft 365).
• Team player eager to learn and grow.
• Comfortable with Monday.com
• Payroll experience preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
