Assistant Area Sales Manager

Responsible in achieving/exceeding sales/volume growth rate targets, and performance standards for store presence, operations, productivity, and service for the assigned area.


Business Analysis, Planning, & Execution

  • Participates in the formulation of plans/programs for specific areas to ensure alignment with the district and region.
  • Executes, monitors, and evaluates strategies and plans/programs for the assigned area and recommends improvements to immediate superior/unit head.
  • Leads the selling of volume, brand, and corporate initiatives to key decision makers, distributors, and customers.
  • Negotiates trading terms and oversees the effective use of the trading terms.
  • Conducts regular sales and business performance reviews capturing achievements, identifying issues, and developing gap closure plans and presents them in a timely manner to all concerned.
  • Monitors and analyzes trade/customer developments, trends, dynamics, and competitive activities, as inputs to the plans and programs.
  • Maintains necessary contact with customer, industry associations, and government representatives to achieve objectives of the group.

Distributor Enhancement

  • Facilitates and participates in distributor’s strategic quarterly business reviews, strategic, and tactical review and planning.
  • Designs and establishes right coverage structure for all customers’ especially key strategic customers of distributors.
  • Monitors and evaluates all the activities of the distributor organization to check if these comply with corporate policies and procedures and good corporate governance guidelines.
  • Conducts monthly on site distributor operations review based on Distributor Enhancement Program (DEP) results.
  • Executes, monitors, and evaluates the project plan developed by immediate superior and ensures that distributor personnel are also delivering timely and quality results. Comes up with contingency or catch-up plans as deemed necessary.

Operational Efficiency

  • Performs assessment and improves on current processes and systems, to ensure the fast and superior execution of initiatives and plans both in accounts handled and distributor covered accounts.
  • Implements discipline in the coverage system to achieve business plans by ensuring that customers are being served in a most cost effective manner and frequency.
  • Ensures optimum payout of initiatives.
  • Ensures compliance with the MUST DO standards (i.e., monthly minimum tasks / time ratio requirements).
  • Ensures that records and reports are accomplished and submitted in a timely manner, complete and accurate.

People Management

  • Manages the performance of assigned distributors’ sales force, through training, coaching, and evaluation.
  • Monitors and evaluates performance and efficiency of distributor leadership team members, processes, and procedures to ensure relevance and support in the achievement of business objectives.
  • Directs the activities of the assigned distributor teams in the achievement of short and long-term business objectives, increased share, profit, and channel leadership.
  • Captures and shares best practices and success models in the assigned distributor organization towards increasing performance and results.
  • Provides guidance and inputs with regard to the area and/or individual scorecard that links to the district, region, and national targets and conducts performance reviews to identify opportunities develop plans for gap closure.
  • Assists in the conceptualization, implementation, and evaluation of the training and development program of distributor personnel focused on three-competencies/work process of: a) general management, b) sales operations, and c) supply chain management

  • Graduate of Bachelor's Degree
  • With at least 3 years work experience in a management position in Sales, with exposure in General Trade, preferably for a fast moving Consumer Goods Company.
  • With advanced skills in Conceptual Selling
  • Proficient in Distributor Management, Key Account Management, Negotiation, Execution, and Sales Leadership
  • Knowledgeable in Channel Marketing, Sales Analysis & Planning, and Financial Management
  • Open to be assigned to any part of the Philippines
