Assistant Housekeeping Manager

Position Summary

The Assistant Housekeeping Manager supports the Housekeeping Manager in overseeing daily housekeeping operations to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, comfort, and guest satisfaction are consistently met in accordance with Sheraton brand standards and Marriott International quality expectations. This role assists in supervising team members, coordinating room assignments, maintaining productivity targets, and promoting a positive, service-driven work environment.

Essential Job Functions

Operational & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Assist the Housekeeping Manager with daily planning, staffing, room assignments, and workflow organization.
  • Supervise, coach, and lead housekeeping team members including Room Attendants, Housepersons, and Laundry Attendants.
  • Conduct daily room inspections to ensure compliance with Sheraton brand standards and cleanliness expectations.
  • Support onboarding, training, and performance development of new and existing team members.
  • Address associate questions, provide direction, and assist with performance feedback and corrective action as needed.
  • Help manage daily attendance, scheduling, and labor productivity in alignment with business needs.

Guest Experience & Quality Assurance

  • Ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces meet or exceed cleanliness and presentation standards.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests or concerns related to housekeeping services.
  • Collaborate with Front Office and Engineering departments to ensure efficient room availability and resolution of maintenance issues.
  • Promote a service-culture focused on hospitality excellence and guest satisfaction scores.

Safety, Compliance & Inventory

  • Enforce all hotel safety, security, and sanitation policies, including proper chemical handling and OSHA guidelines.
  • Assist with inventory control for linens, amenities, and housekeeping supplies.
  • Monitor equipment usage, report maintenance needs, and ensure proper care of hotel assets.
  • Support compliance with Marriott training requirements, audits, and brand quality inspections.

Administrative & Reporting Support

  • Assist in daily reporting, productivity tracking, and workload analysis.
  • Help prepare for brand audits, inspections, and operational reviews.
  • Support communication between management and housekeeping staff to ensure alignment on goals and expectations.
