Role Overview
As our Assistant Restaurant Manager, you help keep the heart of Sherwood beating. You’ll support the Restaurant Manager in running day to day operations, lead and inspire the team, and ensure our guests experience warm, genuine service that reflects Sherwood’s values of sustainability, creativity, and community. This role suits someone who loves hospitality, enjoys problem solving on the fly, and thrives in an environment that’s always evolving.
This is a full time permanent role with a minimum guaranteed hours of 40 per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Support restaurant operations day to day—service flow, guest experience, staff coordination, and bar setup/pack down.
- Lead, coach, and support the team, helping build a positive, motivated, and collaborative culture.
- Deliver consistently excellent service, stepping in to resolve guest issues with warmth, professionalism, and intuition.
- Maintain standards and compliance, including stock levels, responsible service of alcohol, health & safety, and venue cleanliness.
- Support financial performance, keeping an eye on labour costs, beverage GP, ordering, wastage, and opportunities to improve.
- Champion product knowledge, staying across seasonal menus and helping train the team on drinks, pairings, and Sherwood’s sustainable philosophy.
- Minimum of 1 year hospitality leadership experience—supervisor level or above.
- A natural people leader who brings out the best in others and contributes to a supportive, connected team culture.
- A strong communicator who can stay calm, clear, and solutions focused even on busy nights.
- Someone who genuinely cares about guest experience and understands the details that make it memorable.
- Organised, efficient, and dependable—comfortable balancing service, admin, and behind the scenes operations.
- A commercially aware operator who understands the levers of cost, revenue, and quality to help the venue perform at its best.
