Position Name: Assistant Shipping/Receiving and Warehouse Manager
Reports to: Shipping/Receiving and Warehouse Manager
Supervises Others: Yes
Position Summary:
The Assistant Shipping/Receiving and Warehouse Manager is responsible for assisting in the overall management of shipping and the Edge Plastics Transportation (EPT) warehouse operations. This position will coordinate scheduling of order pick-ups/returns from client carriers as well as the transportation of finished goods from our manufacturing plant to our distribution centers. This position will assist in assuming responsibility for the daily shipping operations and tasks that include scheduling customer shipments, coordination of employees to load/unload trucks as needed and inventory management.

- Partners with Shipping/Receiving Warehouse Manager on coordinating all activities of the warehouse employees, ensuring safe and efficient loading, and unloading of all freight.
- Participates in loading/unloading of trucks as business need dictates.
- Monitors freight movement using various computer software applications, particularly IQMS. Tracks other shipping metrics using excel or other applications.
- Assesses efficiency and performance of dispatch and distribution activities; identifies and recommends improvements to shift, department, and facility. Escalates plan to Manager of Shipping and Receiving for approval.
- Ensures product handling and delivery practices meet customer expectations, and daily, weekly, monthly, and annual business objectives.
- Evaluates daily shipment schedules while strategizing and prioritizing a daily work schedule to meet company and customer delivery requirements. Processes Bill of Ladings.
- Provides directions to dock workers on daily tasks and prioritizing. Updates Manager frequently throughout day.
- Consults with various customers arranging daily pickup scheduling a week or more in advance.
- Conducts daily inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and internal laws, regulations, and policies.
- Partners with Manager of Shipping/Receiving to ensure schedules of dock workers support daily workflow.
- Partners with Manager of Shipping /Receiving Warehouse Manager to teach, develop and coach team members regarding warehouse operations, equipment, processes, and technical knowledge of warehouse systems.
- Ensures that all warehouse operations are conducted in a way that adheres to Edge Plastics Inc. policies/protocols and company safety policies.
- Supervises warehouse employees to ensure that company procedures and policies are followed. Escalates to Shipping/Receiving and Warehouse Manager employee concerns, performance challenges, attendance concerns and/or incidents.
- Conducts daily inspections, ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and internal laws, regulations, and policies.
- Assumes responsibilities of Shipping/Receiving and Warehouse Manager during Manager absence.
Education and Experience
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business or Logistics preferred.
- 5 years’ warehouse experience in management or equivalent experience
- 2 years minimum supervisory experience preferred.
- Current commercial driver’s license.
- Tow motor certified and experienced.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products.

The Assistant Shipping and Warehouse Manager must have the following abilities:
- Ability to communicate in professional tone and manner in both verbal and written means.
- Ability to read and analyze written material and properly forecast/recommend based on assessment.
- Ability to update the leadership team in group and one and one conversations.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Ability to coach, mentor and lead immediate subordinates and/or supporting departments to achieve comfortable and collaborative working conditions.
- Ability to multi-task with a high sense of urgency
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with supporting departments.
- Prolonged periods standing and up to four hours per shift sitting and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to one hundred pounds.
- Must be able to traverse facility on unforgiving surfaces.
- Must be able to work in hot and cold climates and in an environment with many noises and odors.
- Must be available to respond after hours and/or report for “On-Call” if necessary.
- Must be able to work nights/weekends/holidays as business need dictates.
