Assistant Technical Coordinator

Summary

Assists in supervision of personnel needed to conduct stage presentations at the Civic Center and Auditorium-Coliseum. Supervises and participates in set-up and operation of stage equipment, lights, and sound equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in scheduling and supervising contract labor including stagehands, forklift operators, riggers, spotlight operators, etc. engaged in set-up and operation of equipment for events;
  • Set-up audio/visual equipment, amplifiers, microphones, podiums, etc. according to lesee requests;
  • Assist in contacting lessees to determine technical needs for their event; provide information regarding the Civic Center and Auditorium/Coliseum technical specifications;
  • Maintain equipment used in all facets of staging; conduct annual inventory of equipment; assist in scheduling time to repair equipment;
  • Assist in budget preparation by compiling information; document purchases made by section; prepare invoices to lessees for stage services;
  • Assist in providing training to labor crews regarding safety and proper operation of equipment;
  • Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

Completion of a bachelor degree in technical theater or a closely related field with an additional one to three years experience supervising stage activities; or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:


Valid Current Driver's License
Physical Exam Required

Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Operation of sound equipment, scenery, and stage lighting equipment;
  • Basic stage lighting and scenery design;
  • Stage safety practices, rigging, fly systems, drapery systems, and all audio/visual equipment.
Ability to:
  • Coordinate and supervise the work of others;
  • Set up and operate a variety of audio/visual equipment, microphones, amplifiers, etc.;
  • Communicate effectively with lessees and the public.
Physical Requirements:
  • Frequently walk
  • Occasionally stand
  • Occasionally climb ladders, stairs, or inclined surfaces,
  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds;
  • Frequently carry up to 25 pounds and occasionally carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently bend and kneel
  • Occasionally push and pull objects;
  • Occasionally flex upper trunk forward; partial flexing of knees,
  • Occasionally rotate upper trunk to right or left while sitting or standing;
  • Frequently reach at shoulder height and occasionally reach above shoulder height
