Administrative Summary:
As Associate Director of Academic Programs, this individual will work closely with the Director to provide leadership for CALS Academic Programs AND THE POSITION WILL BE 50% OF THEIR FACULTY LINE AND COMPENSATED A 15% STIPEND OF THEIR BASE FACULTY SALARY. They will provide support for the Director of Recruitment and Student Engagement, Director of Student Retention and Success, Student Services Manager, and academic units toward meeting CALS goals for student recruitment, retention, timely degree completion, and successful placement. This will include mentoring, motivating, and developing professional development programs focused on student success for academic faculty and staff. They will work to ensure academic success of a diverse population of undergraduate and graduate students, develop and maintain good working relationships with university partners involved in student and academic support (e.g. Vice-Provosts, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrars office, University Advising Services, Dean of Students, Counseling and Mental Health Center, Center for Disability Access and Resources, Student Housing, Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, other academic colleges, and others), and will aid CALS units in development of new academic initiatives. This position will also serve on internal and external committees related to the function of Academic Programs, and document and enhance teaching and advising productivity and quality across CALS. This position reports to the Associate Dean and Director of Academic Programs and will work in close collaboration with a dotted line to the Dean of College of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
The Associate Director, as a faculty member, will be expected to contribute the remaining portion (50%) of their appointment to the mission of their academic unit through research, teaching and/or Extension.

The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is conducting an internal search, seeking to hire a non-tenure track or tenured associate or full professor to serve in an administrative role as the Associate Director of Academic Programs.

Contingency Description:
This administrative appointment or the administrative portion of the faculty appointment is temporary. Employee acknowledges and agrees that in the event there is no longer a need for the administrative assignment, as determined by University in its sole discretion, University may change this Agreement and remove the administrative salary and/or course release during the contract year and employee may return to their faculty appointment, upon 60 days written notice.

Minimum Education/Degree Required:
Listed degree qualification is required at time of application.
Required Qualifications:
  • An earned MS or PhD degree in a discipline relevant to the teaching and mentoring activities of CALS.
  • Experience teaching and advising students in a CALS academic unit.
  • Experience working collaboratively with colleagues.
  • Experience applying university academic policies and procedures.
  • Experience in curricular development or assessment.
  • Experience in leveraging experience with research, Extension, internships, or student organizations to enhance the student experience.
  • Holds a current non-tenure track or tenure track appointment as associate or full professor rank in CALS

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in leveraging experience with research, Extension, internships, or student organizations to enhance the student experience.
  • Experience in engaging stakeholders to assist with student placement.
  • Experience in engaging prospective students and their families.
