Desirable Qualifications
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing; pay attention to detail.
- Ability to travel throughout the state and work long hours as required, which may include overnight stays and going to correctional facilities, state hospitals and other state facilities
- Change work assignments and meet timelines and deadlines with little to no notice.
- Analyze legal principles and precedents and apply them to complex legal and administrative problems.
- Present statements of fact, law and argument clearly and logically.
- Draft opinions, pleadings, rulings, regulations and legislation.
- Independently present difficult and complex cases in court.
- Plan, organize and direct the work of a staff of attorneys.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment such as, but not limited to a personal computer (desktop or laptop), copier and scanning equipment, word processing software, document management software, and billing software.
- General legal principles and their applications.
- Legal research methods, court procedures, rules of evidence and procedure.
- Administrative law and the conduct of proceedings before administrative bodies.
- State and federal labor law and employment.
- Principles of public administration, personnel management and supervision.
