We are a growing engineering and land surveying firm seeking a detail-oriented and skilled CAD Technician to join our team. Our projects span boundary surveys, topographic mapping, ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, FEMA elevation certificates, and more. Position Summary:
The AutoCAD Civil 3D Land Surveying CAD Technician will be responsible for producing high-quality survey drawings and deliverables. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in boundary law principles, legal descriptions, and coordinate geometry (COGO). Field experience in land surveying is highly preferred, as it provides valuable insight into real-world conditions and data collection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft and prepare survey plats, topographic maps, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and FEMA elevation certificates using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Read, interpret, and apply legal descriptions accurately.
- Apply basic boundary law principles and understand the priority of calls in resolving boundary issues.
- Perform COGO calculations to support survey computations and mapping.
- Collaborate with survey crews and project managers to ensure accuracy and completeness of survey data.
- Review, check, and revise drawings to meet company and industry standards.
- Assist in preparing FEMA elevation certificates and other regulatory deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D required.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience as a CAD Technician in land surveying.
- Strong understanding of legal descriptions, boundary law principles, and priority of calls.
- Knowledge of COGO (coordinate geometry) calculations.
- Familiarity with FEMA elevation certificates.
- Field surveying experience strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently or in a team environment.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience conducting surveys in the field.
- Familiarity with ALTA/NSPS standards.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
