RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and serve high-quality espresso drinks, lattes, cappuccinos, and other refreshments following established recipes.
• Operate the cash register efficiently and accurately, ensuring smooth customer transactions.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the café area, equipment, and utensils according to hospital and safety standards.
• Follow proper food storage, labeling, and handling protocols to ensure safety and freshness.
• Support Nutrition Services events by preparing and serving items in an attractive and timely manner.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous barista or food service experience preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, staff, and visitors.
• Ability to follow recipes, preparation techniques, and food safety standards consistently.
• Good physical and mental health with the ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
• Ability to maintain a clean, professional appearance and practice excellent personal hygiene.
• Comfortable working rotating shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.

ENVIRONMENT

The South Peninsula Hospital is a combined 22-bed Acute Care Critical Access Hospital and 28-bed Long Term Care facility located at the southern end of the Kenai Peninsula in South-Central Alaska.
As a Barista, you will have the opportunity to provide cheerful service in a healthcare setting, directly supporting the well-being of patients, families, and staff. The café environment is fast-paced and requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a customer-first mindset.

Hazards: This role may involve exposure to hot liquids, steam, cleaning chemicals, sharp tools, and varying temperatures, with risks including burns, cuts, or back strain from lifting.
