Bar/Restaurant Manager

We are looking for a new operations manager to join our team at The Liberty Bar and our new restaurant in Cork City centre, which we aim to open in the coming weeks.

This job is an exciting chance to join an award winning organistation, for this exciting period of expansion.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the new restaurant and bar, ensuring smooth service, maintaining high standards of food quality, customer service, and staff performance. This role involves both front-of-house and back-of-house responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on team leadership, operational efficiency, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Staff Management and Leadership:

  • Supervise and manage restaurant and bar staff, including servers, cooks, bartenders, and cleaning staff.
  • Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions to ensure staff are well-trained on customer service, food safety standards, and restaurant policies.
  • Motivate and inspire staff to achieve performance goals and maintain a positive, customer-focused atmosphere.
  • Create employee schedules, manage labor costs, and address staffing needs.
  • Provide coaching and performance feedback to improve team members’ skills and performance.

2. Customer Service and Experience:

  • Ensure exceptional service standards are consistently met by monitoring guest experiences and resolving complaints or concerns.
  • Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor the flow of customers, ensuring the restaurant is adequately staffed to meet demand during peak hours.
  • Implement and maintain high standards for cleanliness, ambiance, and overall guest experience.

3. Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily restaurant and bar operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure food is prepared in a timely and efficient manner, adhering to quality standards.
  • Manage inventory and ordering of food, beverages, and supplies, ensuring cost control and waste reduction.
  • Conduct regular checks to ensure the restaurant meets cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Maintain and enforce restaurant safety protocols, including fire safety, emergency procedures, and food safety.
  • Working with both the kitchen and bar to develop exciting food and drinks menus

4. Financial Management:

  • Monitor and manage restaurant budget, including cost control, payroll, and other financial aspects.
  • Track sales, expenses, and profits to ensure financial goals are met and analyze financial reports to make necessary adjustments.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve profitability, such as optimizing menu pricing, reducing food waste, or improving staff efficiency.
  • Handle cash and financial transactions accurately, ensuring adherence to accounting procedures.

5. Marketing and Promotion:

  • Assist in developing marketing initiatives, promotions, and special events to attract and retain customers.
  • Help manage social media accounts and online presence, ensuring the restaurant’s branding is consistent and appealing.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with local businesses, vendors, and the community.
  • Help drive the overall off-line and digital marketing and social media presence
  • Manage the website and ensure this is optimized, content is current and user friendly
  • Planning and implementation of promotional events including music and art events

6. Reporting and Administration:

  • Prepare and submit regular reports on sales, customer feedback, and operational performance.
  • Ensure all required documentation is properly filed, including employee records, vendor invoices, and compliance reports.
  • Handle payroll, scheduling, and HR-related administrative duties as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Leaving Cert or equivalent required; Diploma or Degree in Hospitality Management or related field preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2+ years of experience in a restaurant management role or supervisory position. Experience high-volume establishments is a plus, as is and Bar Management Experience
  • Skills:
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional customer service orientation with a passion for delivering an outstanding dining experience.
  • Proficient in restaurant management software (POS systems, scheduling tools, inventory management).
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and health codes.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

Experience

  • Hospitality Management: 2 years (Required)
  • Restaurant: 2 years (Required)
  • Bar Management: 2 Years (Highly Desirable)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: €40,000.00-€45,000.00 per year

Experience:
