Bartender – Sextons Bar & Restaurant (New Ownership)

Job title: Bartender

Under Sextons’ new ownership, the Bartender will help define the guest experience at the bar, delivering warm hospitality, efficient service and high‑quality drinks that match the refreshed feel of the venue.

Purpose of the Role

• Provide friendly, attentive service to all guests at the bar and in the restaurant.
• Prepare and serve drinks to a consistent standard, showcasing Sextons’ chosen range and signature serves.
• Contribute to a lively, welcoming atmosphere that encourages guests to return.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non‑alcoholic drinks, including beers, wines, spirits, cocktails, coffees and soft drinks.
• Maintain high standards of product knowledge, including cocktails, spirits, wines and any house specials.
• Welcome guests, take orders, handle payments and answer menu questions with confidence and warmth.
• Keep the bar area clean, organised and fully stocked, including glassware, garnishes, ice and supplies.
• Check ID and follow all licensing laws and responsible service of alcohol guidelines.
• Support floor staff by taking drink orders, running drinks and assisting during busy periods.
• Help with opening and closing procedures, including cashing up, cleaning and stock counts.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong customer service skills and a naturally welcoming manner.
• Confidence in making classic drinks; willingness to learn Sextons’ signature serves.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Good numeracy and accuracy when handling payments and cash.
• Clear communication and teamwork with bar, floor and kitchen colleagues.

Experience and Qualifications

• Previous experience in a bar, pub or restaurant bar role is desirable.
• Basic cocktail knowledge; further training will be provided to match Sextons’ offering.
• Licensing or responsible alcohol service training is an advantage.

Working Hours and Conditions

• Shift-based role, including evenings, late nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Working on your feet for long periods, with lifting and carrying of stock and glassware.
