Biological Scientist I
Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related life science field.
Conduct experimental studies on soil nutrient dynamics and plant physiology:
Follow established methods to study the mechanisms of soil nutrient dynamics.
Conduct experiments with plants in greenhouse or natural surroundings, ensuring quality and safety standards.
Record research methods, procedures, and results meticulously.
Oversee students in planting, collecting soil and plant samples, examining plant physiological data, and monitoring plant growth.
Driving to various study locations is required.
Maintain laboratory safety and accuracy:
Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare research findings, summaries, logs, and notes.
Maintain computer databases and use publicly accessible, commercial, or proprietary databases.
Maintain lab safety for the expanded laboratory facility, including maintaining chemical documentation and supervising laboratory safety.
Provide routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and verify its working condition.
Evaluate new supplies, technologies, and equipment to ensure operability in specific laboratory settings.
Computer assistance:
Serve as a technology/procedure resource for graduate students.
Select, install and maintain hardware and software.
Troubleshoot problems with laboratory computers and peripherals. Other duties as assigned.
$22.98 hourly
Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related life science field.
This position requires a valid driver's license.
This position requires a post offer health assessment.
Prefer incumbent to possess a BS in soil science, plant science or agronomy.
Knowledge of the terminology, principles and techniques used in soil science research
Knowledge of and experience with the procedures, techniques and equipment used in soil and plant tissue analysis such as ICP.
Knowledge of the methods of data collection.
Skill in the use and maintenance of scientific lab equipment.
Ability to collect, record and analyze scientific data relating to crop production.
Ability to maintain all areas under supervision in a safe and orderly condition.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Soil Chemists/Lab Technicians are encouraged to apply.
