Building Administration Officer

Part time or Full Time Permanent Role

The City of Cockburn has an exciting future and is committed to delivering outstanding service and achieving our vision of being the best place to be.

Interested in being part of the team that’s shaping the future of one of WA’s fastest-growing communities?

As Cockburn continues to experience rapid development, we’re looking for a Building Administration Officer to support our passionate and professional team. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality built form outcomes across mixed-use areas and residential developments, helping ensure our growing community has access to well-designed, safe, and sustainable housing.

We’re flexible about how this role is filled — either as two part-time positions or one full-time opportunity — depending on the skills and availability of the successful candidate(s).

About the Role

As a Building Administration Officer, you’ll support the City’s rapid development by providing efficient administrative and customer service support to the Building Services team. Your responsibilities will include managing building application records, assisting with invoicing, document handling, and responding to enquiries. This role helps ensure the delivery of high-quality built form outcomes across the diverse types of commercial, mixed and residential developments in our growing community.

About You

You’re someone who enjoys working with people and information, and you take pride in keeping things organised and accurate.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring strong customer service skills, confidence in using computers and handling clerical tasks, and the ability to manage your time effectively in a busy environment. While previous experience in building services or local government is valued, it’s not essential — we’re committed to supporting the right candidate with appropriate training.

About the City

As one of the major coastal cities in Western Australia, Cockburn has it all. With a growing and vibrant community of over 125,000 people and 9,000 businesses across 24 suburbs. Cockburn is made up of vibrant communities — old and new. We’re a place of diverse people, lifestyles and experiences — with everything from pristine beaches and wetlands to theme parks and world-class recreation facilities.

We’re centrally located in the southern suburbs of Perth, on Whadjuk Nyungar Boodjar (the land of the Whadjuk Nyungar people) between the coast and Jandakot Airport. The City of Cockburn is a nationally recognised leading local government.
