Job Description and Duties
The Building Maintenance Worker (BMW) is an entry level position in maintenance and shall be responsible for Building Maintenance Work hospital wide. The incumbent must be able to maintain, clean and repair building fixtures and equipment. Repairing and maintaining items including but not limited to, locks, windows, doors, screens, venetian and mini blinds, gutters, drains, shelving, dispensers, brackets and holders, kitchen utensils, replace lightbulbs and fuses, minor patch and paint, toilet auger, and general groundskeeping. Additional requirements include interpersonal skills and dependability.
The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but are not limited to:
- Demonstrates the knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in general building maintenance practices.
- Possesses the physical ability to climb ladders and perform work at elevated heights; work on hands and knees for extended periods; lift and carry a minimum of 70 pounds; work independently when necessary; and remain standing for extended periods during the workday.
- Processes requisitions for various commodities in a timely manner, verify accuracy, and ensures orders are delivered to designated locations.
- Maintains and properly stores all tools and equipment associated with Plant Operations.
- Understands and adheres to all Division of Industrial Safety regulations and building codes when performing work throughout the facility.
- Reads, understands, and complies with all Hospital Administrative Directives (A.D.’s) and Plant Operations.
