Business Development Manager, Residential Energy Products
What to Expect
Join Tesla Energy's Residential Business Development Team to support the growth of distributed energy systems across Australia and New Zealand. You will work on identifying and scaling significant partnerships that accelerate Tesla's mission in the region.

In this role, you'll support third-party VPP and retail partnerships while seeking opportunities to scale innovative finance programs. This is an opportunity for a self-starter who thrives on autonomy, spots market opportunities, and builds strategic relationships that drive meaningful growth across Tesla's residential energy portfolio.

This position is open to applicants across Australia, with Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide preferred.


What You'll Do
  • Drive ambitious growth across Tesla's residential storage business
  • Work with external partners and parties to identify and execute new opportunities for growth
  • Generate and maintain a robust pipeline of new business opportunities
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in the Australian retail electricity market to develop innovative VPP products that increase utilisation of Tesla battery storage, EV charging infrastructure, and electric vehicles
  • Collaborate across teams (product, engineering, trading, and operations) to execute new business growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support product and program development

What You'll Bring
  • Significant experience in Business Development or a related area, preferably within the energy or technology sector
  • Demonstrated track record of identifying and launching new commercial opportunities
  • Experience negotiating complex commercial agreements, programs and contracts
  • Strong commercial intuition and business acumen
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities simultaneously and maintain a robust pipeline of business growth
Preferred Experience:


  • Experience in Australian retail electricity markets and/or energy storage technology
  • Familiarity with Virtual Power Plants, demand response, or behind-the-meter optimisation
  • Experience working with finance providers and structuring financial partnerships
  • Experience in innovative product development or market expansion within the energy sector
  • Existing relationships with energy retailers, aggregators, or industry stakeholders
