The opportunity…
As the Business Manager – Neurosurgery, you will lead a high-impact portfolio across both capital and consumable products, driving strategy, growth, and commercial performance. This role sits at the intersection of sales leadership, product management, and principal partnership, requiring a well-rounded leader who can translate vision into execution. You will play a key role in shaping market presence, strengthening key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring sustainable business success. Key Responsibilities:
Management of Business Unit:
- Development and implementation of business strategies and plans for both the consumable and capital business.
- Ensure all Business Unit financial targets are met;
- Prepare reports, forecasts and budgets as required;
- Monitor, manage and produce a rolling forecast for business unit P & L;
- In conjunction with the Tender and Pricing Manager, review and approve tender submissions and ongoing review of customer database;
- Develop ongoing relationships with potential new agencies;
- Responsible for principal’s budgets, communications, relationships and contracts;
- Develop the Digital strategy for your business groups
- Review and approve management and organisation of conferences and exhibitions.
- Develop, monitor and manage DT Service offering for installs, including service agreements and service provision.
Principals:
- Maintain and build agency relationships;
- Ensure each agency has an approved business plan;
- Ensure each agency is kept updated of the plans and actions taken to market and sell their products;
- Ensure a valid Distribution Contract is maintained for each Principal, with a new contract being negotiated before entering the last year of any contract;
- Encourage and cater for Principal visits to ANZ and participation in our marketing / sales efforts;
- Ensure that annual (or more frequent) negotiations are held with major principals (>$1M turnover) on terms of business and their participation & investment in local promotional / operational development;
- Provide any forecasts or reports to Principal’s requirements;
- Ensure that all Product Specialists have the product & technical training they need to do their job effectively.
Sales Management:
- Spend time in the field with each Product Specialist;
- Enhance relationships with key accounts, KOL’s and buying groups;
- Monitor market share of own portfolio and that of the competitors;
- Communicate all business strategies and directives to all Product Specialists clearly and regularly;
- Ensure that all Product Specialists have the sales training they need to do their job effectively.
Product Management:
- Assess and plan for new products, liaise with overseas principals and collaborate with Business Development;
- Responsible for setting overall list pricing and approving quotes, special pricing and tender agreements;
- Responsible for stock control, capital expenditure, stock write-offs, negotiating and achieving relevant performance targets;
- Responsible for all business unit marketing plans and initiatives;
- Collaborate with the marketing services and regulatory teams for product launches, promotions and recalls etc.

Experience required:
- Minimum 5 years sales & marketing experience, preferably within the medical / surgical industry;
- Relevant tertiary qualifications / studies in management / marketing;
- Commitment to ongoing training in business development;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Sound computer skills;
- Ability to liaise and communicate with other senior professionals within the business;
- Able to travel extensively;
- Understanding of TGA / Regulatory Affairs;
- Proven understanding of stock management.
Desirable
- Understanding of business management fundamentals;
- Experience within the Healthcare Industry;
- Experience in mentoring staff;
- Understanding of budgets, P&L and general finance.
- Functional Neurosurgery clinical and commercial experience.
