Butcher/Meat Cutter

Job Summary
We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Butcher to join our team in Kitchener-Waterloo. The ideal candidate will be experienced in preparing a wide variety of meats, knowledgeable about different cuts, and committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cut, trim, bone, tie, and grind meats such as beef, pork, poultry, and lamb.
  • Prepare meat displays and specialty meat products such as sausages or marinated cuts.
  • Weigh, wrap, price, and label products for retail sale.
  • Ensure proper storage, rotation, and inventory control of meat products.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Provide exceptional service by answering customer questions and taking special requests.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as band saws, grinders, slicers, and knives.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a butcher or meat cutter (1–2 years preferred).
  • Knowledge of meat preparation techniques, food safety, and hygiene practices.
  • Ability to work in cold environments and lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs).
  • Strong attention to detail and knife-handling skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication abilities.
  • Certification in food handling (required or willingness to obtain).

Working Conditions:

  • Standing for extended periods.
  • Working in refrigerated environments.
  • Weekend and holiday shifts may be required.
