Certified Sterile Processing Technician

Job Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician plays a crucial role in the healthcare team by ensuring that all surgical instruments and medical equipment are properly cleaned, sterilized, and maintained. This position requires attention to detail and adherence to strict protocols to prevent infection and ensure patient safety. The technician will work closely with surgical staff and other healthcare professionals to support the delivery of high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols.
  • Inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness before sterilization.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of sterile supplies and equipment, ensuring adequate stock levels are maintained.
  • Utilize aseptic techniques in handling sterile items to prevent contamination.
  • Document sterilization processes and maintain records in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with surgical teams to understand instrument needs for various procedures.
  • Stay updated on best practices in sterile processing and participate in ongoing training as required.

Education and Experience:

Required

1. Has successfully passed a nationally accredited central service exam for central service technicians; and holds and maintains one of the following credentials administered by a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization:

a. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)

b. Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT)

c. or a substantially equivalent credential

2. High school graduate or equivalent

3. Previous ambulatory surgery experience is preferred

4. Strong ethical and moral character references

5. Ophthalmologic instruments experience or dental is preferred.

Candidates who possess these skills will be well-prepared to contribute effectively as a Sterile Processing Technician within our healthcare facility.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
