Simon & Schuster Canada is seeking an experienced and relationship-driven Client Sales Manager to support our expanding portfolio of client publishers in the Canadian market. This new role is being created to ensure that each client publisher receives the dedicated attention, communication, and strategy needed to thrive as our distribution network continues to grow.
Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Client Sales Manager will oversee a roster of client publishers, working collaboratively with internal sales, marketing, and operations teams to manage relationships, drive sales performance, and support publisher success in Canada.
Please note that this is a full-time position working a Hybrid schedule of 2 – 3 days in office. Salary Range: $57,000-62,000 CAD per year
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned client publishers, maintaining strong, proactive relationships
  • Develop and execute sales strategies for client publishers to ensure their titles achieve maximum visibility and success in the Canadian market
  • Sell assigned client publishers directly to key National Accounts
  • Analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and improved performance
  • Collaborate closely with the internal sales team, operations, and publicity to ensure alignment across priorities and timelines
  • Prepare and deliver regular sales updates, performance reports, and title presentations
  • Manage title submissions, promotional planning, and seasonal sales materials
  • Partner with colleagues to ensure accurate and timely onboarding of new client publishers.
  • Represent Simon & Schuster and client publishers at key trade events, conferences, and sales meetings as required
About You
  • Education: Post-secondary degree or diploma in Publishing, Business, Marketing, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in publishing, sales, or account management
  • Prior experience managing publishing or client relationships is strongly preferred
  • Solid understanding of the Canadian book market and retail landscape
  • Skills & Competencies:
  • Strong relationship management and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Analytical and data-driven with the ability to translate insights into actionable sales strategies
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage a large and diverse list of clients
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint); experience with reporting tools or CRM systems is an asset
  • Collaborative mindset with a proactive, solution-oriented approach
  • Passion for books, publishing, and supporting diverse client lists
