About the role:
The Operated Joint Venture team sits within Origin’s Integrated Gas division and plays a key role in managing the commercial, contractual and governance frameworks underpinning APLNG’s operated assets. The team partners across Origin and with external joint venture participants to maximise value, manage risk, and ensure APLNG meets its strategic and operational commitments.
As a Commercial Advisor, you’ll bring strong commercial acumen and JV management expertise to lead the development, negotiation and implementation of complex commercial agreements. You’ll provide strategic and transactional support to APLNG’s operated assets and act as the key commercial interface with joint venture partners.
Roles & Responsibilities
You’ll manage and advise on matters relating to infrastructure access, tolling, and commercial operations — ensuring that Origin’s commercial positions are well-founded, compliant, and value-driven.
Daly to day you will:
- Lead the drafting, negotiation and delivery of JV and infrastructure access agreements
- Develop and articulate Origin’s commercial position with JV partners across complex operational and contractual matters
- Provide commercial advice to operated assets, translating technical and operational needs into commercially workable outcomes
- Manage compliance with JV agreements, including dispute processes and key commercial milestones
- Build capability within the team by coaching Analysts on agreements, JV obligations and commercial decision-making
- Build strong, collaborative relationships with external JV representatives and internal stakeholders across Legal, Finance, Operations and Non-Operated JV teams
Skills & Requirements
You’ll be an experienced commercial professional with strong negotiation capability and a track record of managing complex agreements in large or asset-heavy environments.
You will also bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in business, commerce, law or related fields, or equivalent proven commercial experience
- Strong commercial contracts experience — ideally involving joint ventures, infrastructure access, tolling or similar commercial frameworks
- Proven ability to negotiate, influence and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and JV partners
- Experience interpreting complex agreements and resolving commercial, technical or operational issues
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to balance competing priorities
