Communications Coordinator
  • Position Purpose

To lead STARS? social media messaging, presence and branding, and graphic design related to printed materials and social media posts. To support, coordinate, monitor, and maintain the STARS donor database, donor-related reports and follow-up,

This position supports Team Development in the following areas:


  • Assist in the maintenance and design for all print and digital materials including annual reports, special event and social media materials and posts, marketing materials and in-house designs
  • Coordinate digital channels and create engaging content ? including email, posts, social media graphics, videos etc.
  • Support the basic level maintenance and updating of the STARS website. Experience with Word Press is a plus.
  • Support the planning and implementation of communications plans to increase brand awareness and engagement as well as recognition for the organization, including graphic design
  • Coordinate and create design content generation and production across all media platforms
  • Update communication materials
  • Create weekly and monthly content plans for external marketing. Identify strategic weaknesses in communications and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Research social media trends and inform leadership of changes that are relevant to marketing activities
  • Set key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media campaigns, such as targets for a certain number of shares or likes and measuring a campaign?s performance against the KPIs
  • Support the maintenance and management of listservs and email marketing database to engage and grow current database
  • Support the coordination of event marketing for annual fundraisers and smaller events throughout the year
  • Maintain and manage CRM and email marketing database to engage and grow current database
  • Record all gifts, in-kind and financial, into the database
  • Assist with individual donor stewardship through a multi-touch thanking program by generating receipts and thank you letters and keeping these items fresh and updated regularly
  • Oversee the recurring gifts and reach out to donors to update expiring credit card information every month
  • Maintain and optimize database for best performance
  • Support donor contact plans: annual giving, post event follow-up etc.
  • Support event marketing for annual fundraisers and smaller events throughout the year
  • Support the maintenance and freshness of agency website and other agency-specific social media platforms
  • Coordinate volunteers ? communication, recruitment, events, management
  • Support all collaborative efforts

  • Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


  • Bachelor?s degree required
  • Prefer 3-5 years? experience working non-profit development
  • Ability to prioritize workloads efficiently, multi-task and shift priorities, as needed
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with graphic design
  • Experience with Bloomerang preferred
  • Ability to manage social media platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Linked In required
  • Proven history of reliability and flexibility
  • Experience working with Bloomerang, preferred
  • A positive, flexible and enthusiastic attitude required
