Companion/Caregiver

We are seeking a full time, male companion and caregiver for a 25-year-old man, who has cerebral palsy. The young man attends college, uses a power wheelchair for mobility, requires assistance with daily living but has no health concerns. He is cognitively typical, fun and engaging, interested in a variety of activities, adventurous, and has a great sense of humour.

Responsibilities:

• All aspects of personal care including feeding, bathing, transfers, washroom assistance, dressing
• Meal preparation
• Bus travel and outings
• Laundry
• Some light housekeeping (if time allows)

Qualifications:

The successful candidate needs NO medical, nursing or care-aide background.

The successful candidate will be:

• Male
• Fluent in English with strong communication skills
• Resourceful
• Fun and social
• Physically strong and energetic
• Extremely reliable and responsible

Benefits:

• $30/hour
• Full-time, long-term position
• 40 hours per week
• Regular hours: Monday – Friday, 10am – 6pm
• Lunch provided
• Located in the Dunbar area
