Job Summary

Armstrong Paving & Materials Group Ltd. is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Construction Labourer Apprentices within our asphalt and concrete divisions.

This position is ideal for individuals looking to build a long-term career in the road building and heavy construction industry. Successful candidates will work alongside experienced Foremen, Lead Hands, Operators, and Skilled Tradespeople while gaining hands-on experience in asphalt paving, grading, concrete construction, municipal servicing, and site development projects.

We are looking for hardworking individuals with a positive attitude who are interested in learning the trade and advancing within the construction industry.

Experienced LIUNA members, labourers, and individuals interested in apprenticeship opportunities are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Assist asphalt and concrete crews with daily construction activities
• Perform general labour duties including shoveling, raking, cleanup, lifting, and material handling
• Support asphalt paving operations including raking, lute work, rolling assistance, and traffic control
• Assist concrete crews with forming, placing, finishing, and site preparation
• Assist with grading, excavation, and municipal servicing work
• Load, unload, organize, and maintain tools and equipment
• Follow direction from Foremen, Lead Hands, and Supervisors
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized jobsites
• Work safely and follow all company and site safety procedures
• Learn industry skills through hands-on field experience and LIUNA apprenticeship training

Qualifications & Requirements

• Valid Ontario driver’s licence is required
• Must have reliable transportation and be able to report daily to various jobsites or to our yard in St. Marys, Ontario
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to perform physically demanding work
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work well within a crew environment
• Construction, asphalt, or concrete experience considered an asset

Important Requirement

Applicants must have dependable daily transportation. This position requires employees to report to active construction sites throughout the region and/or report to our St. Marys yard as directed. Public transportation is not available to many of our jobsites.
