Role Title: Consultant Paediatrician – General Paediatrics

Role Location: Carrickmines 360 Clinic

A part-time (0.5), permanent position has arisen within Vhi for a Consultant Paediatrician. The scope of this Consultant post will support the provision of quality patient and family centred care within the Paediatric Services, currently located in our flagship centre in Carrickmines. The Consultant will work alongside the existing consultant General Paediatricians to further advance the development of General Paediatrics and the capacity within this service to provide a responsive service to our customers.

Role Purpose
The Consultant will:

• Provide clinical duties across general and developmental paediatric services.
• Primarily support the general paediatric clinic assessing, diagnosing and treating children with a range of conditions, and with a specific focus on ADHD.
• Be part of the paediatric MDT, (nursing, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, dietetics, psychology)
• Support the implementation of the service specification for paediatric services within Vhi H&W

Education & Experience

• Registration as a specialist in the Specialist Division of the Register of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland in the specialty of paediatrics
• Experience and/or specialist interest in developmental paediatrics, and in particular experience in the diagnosis and management of children with ADHD is a distinct advantage
• Other sub specialty interests are an advantage
• Experience of delivering care within the Irish health system – either private or public
• Demonstrated alignment to Vhi values

Skills and Abilities

• Experienced clinician with credibility and the ability to command the respect of all clinical and non-clinical professions
• Significant experience in clinical practice in the area of General Paediatrics in a scheduled care setting, and in particular in the diagnosis and management of ADHD
• Experience of developing, applying and reviewing an evidence-based approach to decision making
• Demonstrate evidence of effective planning and organisating skills including awareness of resource management
• Risk and issue management skills
