Two Thai Cooks wanted for a Thai Restaurant.

A Twizel – based Thai restaurant has two positions of full-time Thai Cooks available.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of related work experience OR

• A minimum of NZ Register Level 4 qualification, which may substitute for experience (overseas qualifications must be comparable to the standard of the New Zealand qualification) OR

• The National Skill Standard Testing Level 1 (Thai Cook or Thai Chef) from Thailand AND

• Knowledge of Thai food ingredients

Job Descriptions

• Examine Foodstuffs for Quality: Ensure all food ingredients are fresh, meet the restaurant's quality standards, and are safe for consumption.

• Regulate Cooking Equipment: Monitor and control the temperatures of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked to perfection.

• Prepare and Cook Food: Prepare and cook Thai dishes according to restaurant recipes, ensuring all meals are of high quality and meet customer expectations.

• Season Food During Cooking: Add the appropriate seasonings, herbs, and spices to Thai dishes during the cooking process to achieve the authentic flavors of Thai cuisine.

• Portion Food and Garnish: Portion food correctly, place it on plates, and garnish with gravies, sauces, and other garnishes to enhance presentation.

• Store Food Properly: Store food in temperature-controlled facilities to maintain food safety and preserve freshness.

• Prepare Special Dietary Foods: Adjust recipes and ingredients to cater to special dietary requirements, ensuring all customers' needs are met.

• Menu Planning & Estimation: May assist in planning menus and estimating food requirements based on restaurant demand and seasonality.

• Training and Mentorship: May be required to train other kitchen staff and apprentices, sharing culinary knowledge and techniques to enhance the team's skills.

Other detail

• This is a full-time and permanent position

• Wage payment is $25 - $35 per hour, depending on your skills and experience

• You will be paid weekly

• Holiday pay and sick leave will be paid according to the law

• You will be working at 1 Market Place, Twizel

• We are open from Monday to Sunday, Lunch 11.00 am - 2.30 pm, Dinner 4.30 pm – 8.30 pm.

• You will work according to a roster 5 - 6 days each week with a guarantee of 30 hours (a maximum of 48 hours).
