We're looking for a Credit Controller to join our Global Credit Team. In this role, you'll help manage debt for Cambridge University Press & Assessment by driving collections and reducing bad debt risk across a global customer base. You'll also carry out credit checks, review financial statements, and support credit decisions, including escalations to senior stakeholders.

What will you do as a Credit Controller?

As a Credit Controller, your responsibilities will include:

  • Build strong relationships with customers to support timely payments and reduce overdue balances.
  • Review financial data and credit reports to make informed decisions about customer credit limits.
  • Keep customer account information up to date, following internal policies and best practices.
  • Handle payment queries and disputes efficiently, working closely with relevant teams to find solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales teams to balance commercial goals with responsible credit management.
  • Maintain clear communication with key contacts via phone and email, join team discussions when needed, and ensure your work meets legal and data protection standards.

What makes you the ideal candidate for this role?

The following will help you be an ideal candidate for this post:

  • Good understanding of credit control or finance processes; AAT or CICM qualification (or working towards) is a bonus.
  • Clear and confident communicator — able to listen well and handle tricky queries with professionalism.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with sound judgement and ownership of credit decisions and KPIs.
  • Well-organised and able to manage time effectively, whether working independently or with a team.
  • Open to learning and flexible in a fast-changing, growing environment.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with SAP is an advantage.
