Taitara Mahi – Customer Experience Coordinator – Information Access
Permanent Part Time

Hastings District Libraries play a vital role in connecting our community with information, knowledge and each other. We're looking for a passionate Customer Experience Coordinator - Information Access to help lead high-quality library and information services that empower our customers and support exceptional experiences across all our library services.

This is an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership role within our Customer Experience team. You’ll be at the forefront of delivering information services, supporting staff and ensuring our libraries remain accessible vibrant spaces for all.

As a Customer Experience Coordinator – Information Access, you’ll support the delivery of specialist library services including research support, digital information guidance and management of our interlibrary loan service. You’ll also provide day to day leadership to our lovely team of Library Assistants.

This is a permanent part-time role, working 34 hours per week, Saturday - Wednesday.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a recognised professional library or information services qualification
  • Have strong knowledge of reference materials, research techniques, and digital information sources
  • Have experience coordinating interlibrary loans and supporting complex customer enquiries
  • Have demonstrated experience leading, coaching, or supervising staff in a customer focused environment
  • Have a highly collaborative working style with excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Have a customer centred mindset with the ability to model and inspire excellent service delivery
  • Be confident navigating digital tools, databases online research platforms and library management systems.

This role will suit someone who enjoys working in a lively, community-focused environment and feels energised by supporting both customers and colleagues. While our libraries offer welcoming spaces, this position is active and people-facing, and is ideal for someone motivated by providing positive customer experiences, leadership, and helping others access information in meaningful ways.
