About Us:

The Philadelphia Research and Education Foundation (PREF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that supports the research and teaching mission of the Corporal Michael J. Cresencz VA Medical Center (CMCVAMC). PREF is hiring a Clinical Research Coordinator I (RC). This position reports to the Principal Investigator and the Executive Director of PREF. Interaction with senior medical center management and staff; affiliated university staff and VA employees is also required of this position. The research focus of the team will be in gastroenterology.

Position Summary:

The Database Research Analyst with a Master of Public Health (MPH) and a background in epidemiology will be responsible for reviewing and analyzing data for research purposes. This role will involve working closely with interdisciplinary teams to support public health research, develop statistical models, and contribute to high-quality publications. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, be proficient in data management and statistical software, and have the ability for leveraging data to inform public health initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Management:

  • Design, implement, and manage databases to collect, store, and retrieve data efficiently.
  • Ensure the integrity and security of data, implementing best practices for data quality and validation.

Data Analysis:

  • Perform complex data analyses using statistical software such as SAS, R, STATA, or SPSS.
  • Use epidemiological methods to identify patterns, assess risk factors, and evaluate outcomes.
  • Develop and apply statistical models to interpret data and draw actionable insights.

Research Support:

  • Collaborate with researchers to define study objectives, design experiments, and develop data collection tools.
  • Review and analyze epidemiological data to contribute to research studies and public health initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders.

Technical Guidance:

  • Provide technical expertise and consultation on study design, data collection, and data analysis methodologies.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to their professional development.

Publications and Grants:

  • Contribute to the writing of research papers, reports, and grant proposals.
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals.

Compliance:

  • Adhere to ethical standards and regulations related to data privacy, human subject research, and public health reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and federal guidelines.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Master of Public Health (MPH) with a focus on Epidemiology or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in epidemiological research and data analysis.
  • Proven track record of working with large datasets and complex statistical analyses.
  • Experience in database management and familiarity with data warehousing concepts.

Skills:

  • Proficient in statistical software (e.g., SAS, R, STATA, SPSS).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present complex data clearly.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of public health practices, study design, and epidemiological methods.

Pay: $40.87 - $52.88 per hour
