The Demand Planner operates as a highly visible supply chain role, exercising hands-on coordination of supply (inventory) and demand (sales, claims) forecasts to meet customer and company objectives. Collaboration with Customers (wireless carriers), Account Management, Actuary, Supply Chain and Logistics Operations are paramount to successful execution of Demand Planner duties. The Demand Planner will exercise best in class, available methodologies for developing, maintaining, and executing strategic demand plans, providing visibility to both senior leaders as well as supply chain operators.
This is an onsite role in our Irving TX Facility.
What will be my duties and responsibilities in this job?
- Serve as the forecasting SME and interface on Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) projects
- Lead and champion forecasting strategies and efforts that increase efficiency, profitability, and sustain company growth through improved forecasting effectiveness and customer service levels
- Communicates opportunities and risks to management on a proactive basis
- Develop tools and platforms to standardize demand forecasts across carriers to incorporate key variables and parameters that impact demand forecasts
- Leverage forecasting and inventory planning systems to generate 6-month rolling demand forecast, purchasing plans and target stocking levels
- Partner with supply chain/production/manufacturing teams to align product demand with supply/production plans
- Establish processes and metrics to assess and continually improve scope and accuracy of forecasting platform and outputs
- Support the implementation of company programs and software solutions to ensure the success of Assurant Wireless
- Actively participate in the development and implementation of the Global and Executive S&OP process
- Working with all S&OP participants, continue to improve the effectiveness and execution of the Global and Executive S&OP
What are the requirements needed for this position?
- BS in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- 3 years’ experience in master scheduling, forecasting, procurement and planning that includes knowledge of demand management/forecasting tools, forecasting processes in sales, marketing operations, finance, manufacturing and supply chain issues
What other skills/experience would be helpful to have?
- Strong analytical abilities – job requires analyzing information and using logic to identify trends, draw conclusions, and address work-related issues and problems from vast amounts of data
- Proven knowledge and proficiency in forecast modeling platforms and tools APICS CPIM and/or CSCP certification or class work
