Education & Outreach Coordinator

Reports To: Support Services Supervisor
Position Summary
The Education & Outreach Coordinator will play a vital role in advancing People of Progression’s mission to strengthen community health, wellness, and safety. This position blends direct advocacy, community engagement, and program coordination. Core responsibilities include supporting crisis intervention services, coordinating community health and wellness initiatives, leading outreach efforts, and providing culturally responsive education and tools to community members.
Key Responsibilities
Community Health & Wellness
- Coordinate and co-facilitate Community Circles, and refer clients to external partners for support, empowerment, and healing.
- Coordinate and promote internal health and wellness initiatives (e.g. meditation, sound bowl healing sessions).
- Coordinate and promote community wellness activities with external partners (e.g., yoga, doula workshops, healthcare referrals).
- Evaluate all agency community circles and groups to ensure quality, accessibility, and responsiveness to participant needs.
- Create and share a monthly agency newsletter that uplifts stories, programs, and resources; lead the development of an annual Community Impact Report celebrating achievements and community impact.
- Co-lead the Thriving Neighbors, Thriving Kids (TNTK) project through adult resident action team initiatives, and data collection efforts in collaboration with the Youth & Teen Prevention Coordinator.
- Support Tobacco Prevention activities in collaboration with the Prevention Program Coordinator, contributing to harm prevention, outreach, and education.
Outreach & Education
- Facilitate Missing Piece/e-CPR facilitator training for volunteers and staff, ensuring consistent messaging around trauma-informed and culturally responsive service delivery.
- Help recruit and supervise a small number of volunteer advocates for monthly programming events and tabling.
- Design and implement social media outreach and marketing materials using Canva, Adobe, and other creative tools.
- Engage community members in health education, resource navigation, and leadership-building activities.
- Serve as a connector by strengthening referrals to healthcare, wellness, and community resources.
- Support People of Progression event planning and implementation, including coordination with staff and partners.
- Organize and schedule tabling at community outreach events (e.g., Pride, Juneteenth), serving as the primary point of contact for community partners.
- Monitor and evaluate the impact of outreach & training efforts to inform future strategies.
Organizational & Direct Support
- Provide trauma-informed advocacy and support services as needed.
- Conduct intakes and participate in on-call crisis and phone shifts, following agency requirements.
- Provide safe, welcoming spaces for mutual support and education in group settings.
- Ensure opportunities for survivor/participant input in all aspects of program development.
- Compile agency records and statistics for the assigned service area.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of survivors and all program participants.
- Adhere to People of Progression’s mission and values, as well as the guiding principles of the Prevention Practices Program.
- Attend agency staff meetings, required training/in-services, and contribute to a collaborative team culture.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Support Services Supervisor to support the overall mission and operations of People of Progression.

- Ability to handle crises appropriately and communicate effectively with others.
- Ability to be flexible in work setting and work as a team with other advocates.
- Ability to have/develop proficiency using Microsoft Office software and other database.
Qualifications
- Experience in community health work, advocacy, or outreach preferred.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills; ability to engage diverse groups of community members.
- Proficiency in creating engaging outreach/marketing materials.
- Commitment to culturally specific, trauma-informed, and community-rooted approaches.
- Flexibility to take on crisis and phone shifts as part of the team rotation.
- Experience in trauma-informed advocacy
Work Environment
- Requires flexibility to work some evenings and weekends for crisis shifts, support groups, and community engagement events.
- Offers a collaborative team culture with opportunities for leadership development and cross-training.
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license, car Insurance and reliable transportation.
- Available for some evening/weekend community events.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs. and navigate event-based work settings.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary Range: $55,500 - $59,500 based on experience.
- More than four weeks of paid time off annually (includes PTO and holidays)
