What We’re Looking For

We are seeking a full-time Electrical Estimator Assistant who has a passion for service and support the members of our Electrical Division. This is a great opportunity to begin an exciting career in the Commercial Electrical Industry.

Major Expectations & Accountabilities

  • Collaborates with our Electrical Project Managers in a variety of electrical estimating support functions within the EPS Electrical Division.
  • Plays a key role in assisting our Electrical Estimators to determine the best approach, value, and pricing needs are determined to create a detailed estimate for commercial electrical projects.
  • Assists the Electrical Estimators in developing competitive bid proposals, including product information and estimates of commercial electrical projects and change orders.
  • Completes administrative actions by attaining and managing electrical permits, producing electrical panels, and assists with the purchase of materials.
  • Possesses strong leadership and effective communication skills to help maintain a clear understanding of each project's status and updates.
  • Ensures EPS's best efforts are represented, including profitability. and cost control for each project estimate.
  • Ability to coordinate efforts across the entire EPS organization by developing and implementing innovative work-flow patterns to help streamline project estimating.
  • Assist Electrical Estimators in completing and maintaining all required project documentation and paperwork including work orders, materials used, and providing information for accurate billing and estimates to customers.
  • Works closely with the assigned Project Managers and Field Supervisors to help ensure both EPS and our customer's best interests are represented, while cost control is maintained for each project.
  • Must be knowledgeable or willing to learn how to interpret project contracts, prepare project bids, purchase orders and creating final project drawings.
  • Assists EPS Electrical Estimators in developing and maintaining strong customer relationships as a trusted advisor setting project objectives, competitive bids and ensures all specifications are met.
  • Promotes and follows EPS company philosophy. processes, values, and safety requirements.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

  • A self-starter who is organized and has the ability to complete multi-task work assignments throughout the workday.
  • Possesses a basic understanding of the electrical construction industry.
  • Experience or willingness to learn to perform a variety of administrative estimating, preparing commercial electrical bids, and knowledge of project management in electrical applications and systems.
  • Experience or willingness to learn how to use project management software.
  • Ability to foresee events and the ability to anticipate changes in conditions and operations and communicate those events to the Project Managers and assist in the ability to react and provide effective solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills and a keen sense for detail.

Qualifications Set You Apart

  • Two-year technical associate degree in electrical estimating, project management or construction management, or similar discipline.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of reading and understanding blue prints and documents related to electrical applications and systems.
  • Experience of providing estimating support for those working in the construction industry.
  • Expertise in SAGE 100 Construction software or any other estimating software including Pro-Core, Accubid, or Autocad.
  • Proficiency with business software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook calendaring

Compensation Range for our Electrical Estimator Assistant

  • Starting compensation is based on your relevant job experience
  • This role is considered exempt and a salaried paid position.
  • The starting annual salary range for this position is based on the candidate's level of experience and would range from $60,000 to $70,000 annually.

Physical Requirements/Essential Functions

  • Be able to give and receive detailed information through verbal and written communication.
  • Able to operate motor vehicles, driving to and from work sites, corporate offices, and vendor locations.
  • Sufficient vision to read instructions, blueprints, documents, etc.
  • Be able to walk over uneven terrain, over debris and other obstacles at times during project walk-throughs.
  • Regularly withstand Minnesota hot and cold weather conditions to perform outdoor and indoor responsibilities.
