Enrollment Specialist

Position Summary

The Enrollment Specialist works independently and collaboratively to meet enrollment goals with focused efforts on exemplary customer service, use of technology and systems, teamwork, accuracy and efficiency in order to connect, engage and enroll prospective students to Lawson State Community College. Enrollment Specialists work with prospective students, parents and others involved in the college selection process and collaborate with many colleagues to facilitate aspects of the recruitment, enrollment and admission process. Work with various computer systems and business process guides, and they represent the Institution in a customer service capacity in the office and in on- and off-campus recruitment events, visits and tours. Enrollment Specialists perform various functions to develop meaningful relationships with prospective students and to aid prospective students in applying, visiting, earning admission, and enrolling. Responsible for assisting with developing recruiting materials and performing a variety of recruitment activities to maximize student enrollment at Lawson State Community College.

Salary Schedule: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule C3 04 ( $40,583-$66,302) based on experience.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • To assist in the development and implementation of an annual, comprehensive recruitment/marketing program that will increase student enrollment in credit and non-credit program.
  • To assist in the development of recruitment materials including, but not limited to, multimedia presentations, brochures, and flyers for each program. Present and/or disseminate materials to area high school counselors, career-technical center personnel, appropriate agencies, and the citizens of the college service area.
  • To recruit students for day and evening classes, special training programs, and non-credit programs.
  • To develop and implement a system to track applicants from inquiry through enrollment.
  • To develop and maintain databases of prospective students and area high school counselors, career technical center personnel, and community leaders/representative utilizing Ellucian Banner software.
  • To develop and maintain relationships with high school personnel, career technical center personnel, community groups leaders, and agency representatives.
  • To serve as a college liaison to high schools, career technical centers, and selected agencies.
  • To develop and present career technical education seminars at area high schools.
  • To develop and implement a plan to ensure current knowledge of each program’s content and requirements.
  • To develop and maintain a working relationship with faculty and staff to ensure collaborative recruitment efforts.
  • To develop and implement a systematic correspondence program for prospective students, to include print and telephone correspondence.
  • To prepare and disseminate a recruiting and enrollment report each term including statistical data on recruiting visits, applicant contacts, enrollments, etc.
  • To maintain accurate records of all recruiting activities and outcomes.
  • To coordinate college open houses and campus tours.
  • To collaboratively evaluate annually all aspects of the recruitment/marketing plan and reports the effectiveness with specific accomplishments to appropriate administrators.
  • To provide information on course offerings, admissions procedures, term enrollment and ending dates, placement testing and other inquiries about the college to prospective students.
  • Provides admissions and enrollment support to Dual Enrollment students.
  • Represents the college at dual enrollment meetings and conferences.
  • Remains informed of college academic support policies and processes and identifies and work collaboratively to change those that present potential barriers to student success.
  • To perform tasks as assigned in the Admissions Office which support student admissions/enrollment.
  • To perform other job-related duties as assigned by the appropriate administrative head.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION, STANDARDS, AND TRAINING:


  • Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited university.
  • One year of experience in education, recruiting, marketing/public relations, or admissions.
  • Ability to work flexible hours which may include nights, weekends and travel as needed.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office.

The Enrollment Specialist will be expected to work a flexible schedule which may include day, evening, night and weekend hours. Sick Leave
All regular full-time non-instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is the equivalent of 8 hours of sick leave per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. All regular full-time and part-time employees (non-temporary and non- student) who work at least 20 hours per week are required to participate in The Teachers' Retirement System of Alabama.
Tier I - Pays 7.50% monthly. State matches 13.57% (effective 10/01/24)
Tier II – Pays 6.20% monthly. State matches 12.60% (effective 10/01/24)

Health Insurance
PEEHIP, established in 1983, provides health insurance benefits for active and retired education employees and is governed by the PEEHIP Board of Control.
