Exhibitor Sales Representative – West Coast Women's Show & West Coast Family Show

About the shows

The West Coast Women's Show is the longest-running women's consumer show in Canada, held each November at TRADEX in Abbotsford, BC. Now in its 26th year, it runs alongside the West Coast Family Show in a combined two-hall event connecting thousands of Fraser Valley attendees with hundreds of BC businesses over one weekend.

We're not a big corporate events company. We're a small, focused operation with a strong exhibitor base, a proven sales model, and genuine momentum.

The role

You'll be selling exhibit space to small and medium BC businesses across both shows. That means working a prospect list from first contact through to a signed contract, which could take anywhere from one conversation to six months of consistent follow-up. Most of our prospects are owner-operated businesses whose decisions depend on timing, cash flow, and trust. Your job is to stay present, be genuinely helpful, and be there when they're ready.

While the show generates strong inbound interest from businesses looking to exhibit, the majority of this role is self-directed outreach and follow-up. An enquiry is not a booking. Most prospects need consistent contact over weeks or months before they're ready to commit. There is one show, one deadline, and everything between now and November is follow-up. If you're looking for a role where inbound volume does most of the heavy lifting, this isn't it.

If you need quick closes to feel like you're making progress, this role will frustrate you. If you're the kind of person who keeps a mental map of every prospect and where they're at without being asked, read on.

What the day-to-day actually looks like

You'll be working a database of past exhibitors, warm leads, and cold prospects across categories including fashion, beauty, food, health, home, travel, and family products. Your outreach will be a mix of calls, emails, and texts, rotating through channels on a consistent weekly cadence per prospect. A typical touchpoint might be a two-line email checking in. Sometimes it's a call. The point is staying on their radar without being a nuisance, and being the person they think of when they're ready to commit.

You'll log everything in HubSpot. Not because we're watching every move, but because a prospect list without accurate notes is worthless to everyone including you.

What we're looking for

Someone who has sold to small business owners before and understands how they make decisions. Someone who is genuinely comfortable on the phone and doesn't treat email as a substitute for a conversation. Someone whose natural instinct when a prospect goes quiet is to follow up again in a week, not move on.

We'll ask you in the interview to walk us through the longest sales cycle you've ever managed and exactly how you kept it alive. We'll want specifics, not generalities.

Experience in event, media, or sponsorship sales is an advantage but not a requirement. The right working style matters more than the right CV.

Compensation

This is a commission-based independent contractor role with a monthly recoverable draw to support income stability during the ramp-up period. Commission is 15% on booth sales. There is a team bonus structure tied to overall sales milestones.

The draw amount is discussed at interview and is based on experience and demonstrated performance. It is recovered against earned commissions.

All contracts begin with a short paid trial period before the full agreement is signed. This works both ways: it gives you a clear picture of what the role actually involves before you commit, and it gives us a chance to see how you work.

Logistics

Fully remote. Monday to Friday, business hours. You'll be expected to attend both shows in person each November in Abbotsford. Occasional evening or weekend availability during the final push before the show is part of the role.

To apply

Send a CV and a short note, not a cover letter template, telling us about a prospect you pursued for longer than most people would have and what happened. That's it.

Pay: $40,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
