Farmers Market Sales Associate

Job Summary
I'd Tap That Maple Syrup is seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Farmers Market Associate to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for engaging with customers, demonstrating products, and providing exceptional service. This role requires strong communication skills, organizational abilities, and a passion for sales and customer satisfaction. The Market Associate will play a key role in merchandising, operating Square POS systems, and upselling products to meet sales goals while maintaining a welcoming environment.

Part Time role representing our Maple Syrup brand I’d Tap That Maple Syrup, at market locations in Downtown Minden every Saturday from May to October (market hours are 8am-1pm). I’d Tap That Maple Syrup specializes in making infused maple syrup such as whiskey barrel, cinnamon, vanilla and spicy, and of course good ole fashioned regular maple syrup.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide excellent customer service throughout their shopping experience
• Conduct product demonstrations and explain features to assist customers in making informed purchasing decisions
• Manage merchandising displays to ensure attractive and organized presentation of products
• Operate Square POS systems accurately for transactions, including cash handling and processing payments
• Upsell complementary products to maximize sales opportunities
• Maintain knowledge of current promotions, store policies, and product information
• Assist with inventory management, stock replenishment, and organizing merchandise
• Handle customer inquiries in person with professionalism and courtesy

Booth Setup & Disassembly

• Tent Assembly: Carefully assemble and securely anchor the tent using weights on every leg to withstand weather conditions.
• Display Management: Set up tables with clean linens, attractive product arrangements (using risers), and clear pricing/menu signs.
• Branding: Ensure all company banners are prominently displayed.
• Tear-Down: Efficiently disassemble the booth, pack unsold products with proper labeling, and conduct a thorough area inspection for trash.

. Sales & Customer Service

• Engagement: Proactively greet every customer with a smile and initiate conversations about our products.
• Product Knowledge: Maintain expert knowledge of ingredients.
• Upselling: Suggest, bundles, or specials to maximize sales opportunities. Suggest ideas on how to use the infused syrup.
• Payment Processing: Accurately handle cash and process mobile payments using the Square system.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Valid Driving License: Required for transporting goods and equipment via the company van.
• Food Safety Certificate: Mandatory to ensure compliance with food handling, allergen awareness, and sanitation standards. (Can be attained afterwards)
• Own Transportation: Vehicle large enough to transport a popup tent, folding table, boxes of maple syrup, tent weights etc.

Preferred Skills & Requirements

• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy items and remain standing for the duration of the market.
• Communication: Professional and respectful communication with team members, customers, and market management.
• Weather Resilience: Ability to follow safety procedures during severe weather, including high winds or heat.
