Your Role
As a Field Sales Representative you will actively develop business within your given territory using proven sales techniques with the support of an effective team of experienced sales specialists. You’ll plan and deliver persuasive approaches and pitches that will attract potential customers to do business through our wide range of product offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify business opportunities by hunting new business, establishing sales prospects and evaluating their position in the industry; researching and analysing sales options
- Quickly develop high value, trusted relationships with customers, while providing them with exceptional customer service during every interaction.
- Be the first point of contact/the face of James Walker to several customers
- Proactively arrange and attend appointments with customers to promote the Company’s portfolio of products and capabilities by growing, maintaining and leveraging your network
- Prepare and manage a sales budget, and forecast, track and report on KPI targets (e.g. customer visit reports, prospect mapping, strategic plans, gross margin, sales growth, new customers), pipeline and attainment of revenue objectives
- Be accountable for delivering results, achieving and exceeding agreed targets, utilising the Opportunity Pipeline Tracker (OPT) and always look to improve own performance
- Confidently deliver high impact sales presentations and actively participate during monthly Sales Meetings reviewing sales performance and feeding back all suggestions for improvement and market research to the Sales Manager
- Seek out decision makers to build and develop relationships and negotiate with them to grow business within customer organisations
- Expertly handle objections by clarifying, emphasising agreements and working through differences to a constructive conclusion by using a variety of styles to persuade or negotiate as needed
- Keep ahead of the competition by constantly monitoring industry and competitor trends and developments, bringing fresh ideas forward for new business opportunities and keeping key stakeholders (Sales Manager, Marketing, etc.) informed
- Effectively facilitate the seamless transition of new customers from Field Sales to Account Management.
- Maintain internal procedures and standards consistently
- Continually learn and update personal knowledge by actively participating in learning events, researching, reading professional publications, and engage in both internal and external-led workshops and associated events
- Represent James Walker at exhibitions, events and demonstrations
About you
Preferred Skill & Experience
- Understanding of Engineering Drawings and/or Piping and & Instrumentation Diagram’s
- Contractual exposure within a sales role
- An understanding and application of project management methodology
- Ability to demonstrate an excellent working knowledge of James Walker, its products and the different industry sectors
- CRM (or equivalent) experience
Essential Skill & Experience
- Experience of working in a sales orientated role with a good understanding and use of sales strategies and methodology
- Developing sales plans and working with others to deliver both sales and profit targets
- Selling in multi-product / complex solution environments
- Low level experience of addressing ‘technical’ issues whilst working in a ‘sales’ role/environment
- Evidence of network development and stakeholder management at multiple business levels
- Sales pipeline management
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent, preferably in an engineering or technical -related qualification
- Time served Mechanical/Maintenance Apprentice
- Formal recognised sales qualification (or working towards), e.g. ISMM
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of Maths, English & Science qualifications (e.g. GCSE, Baccalaureate)
