Fitness Specialist Ii

Introduction

The Fitness Specialist will oversee aspects of group fitness programming and operations at the Chinn Aquatic and Fitness Center. This includes oversight of group fitness and fitness attendant positions. This individual is key in initiating a culture of development and teamwork through the fitness and recreation center staff.

This position requires a fitness leader with a passion for training and staff development that puts safety first. They must have exceptional people skills, creativity, the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to empower creative problem solving.

About This Role:

The Fitness Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of group fitness services at the Chinn Aquatics and Fitness Center. The main charge for the position is oversight of group fitness instructors and fitness attendants while maintaining the highest safety standards.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or G.E.D. and 4 years of related experience in fitness programming.

Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation, Business Management/Administration, Public Administration, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience working in the Fitness industry.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in training Fitness staff, recruiting Fitness professional staff, and site operations.
  • Experience as a personal trainer and/or group fitness instructor.
  • Experience in aquatic exercise formats.
  • Experience with web-based applications: GroupEx PRO, When to Work, Club Connect, and Microsoft Outlook.
  • Experience with RecTrac.
  • Ability to empower creative problem solving.
  • Ability to motivate, influence, and support others.
  • Ability to be empathetic and responsive to the needs of staff, teams, and customers.

Special Requirements:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification
  • DMV record check
  • Background check
  • First aid Certification, or have the ability to obtain one within 90 days of employment
  • Accredited Group Fitness Certification

Work Schedule:

The typical schedule varies based on operational needs but is usually between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Some weekend, early morning, and evening work is required. This position is classified as exempt and can adjust hours to meet operational needs.

Starting Salary Range:

$69,284.76 – $82,400.00 Annually
