General Manager

Talbot Lodge is a purpose-built nursing home located in Malahide, Dublin. The General Manager / Person in Charge (PIC) will be responsible for the overall management of the nursing home, ensuring the highest standard of clinical, operational, and administrative performance. The PIC will ensure compliance with all HIQA regulations and foster a culture of dignity, respect, safety, and excellence in care for all residents.

Key Responsibilities

• Assume full responsibility as the Person in Charge (PIC) as defined under the Health Act 2007 and HIQA regulations.
• Provide strong, visible leadership to staff, ensuring a positive working environment and high morale.
• Assist to develop and implement strategic and operational plans for the home.
• Ensure the effective and efficient use of resources.
• Ensure residents receive high-quality, person-centred care at all times.
• Oversee care planning, risk assessments, and individualised service delivery.
• Monitor clinical governance, safeguarding practices, and incident management.
• Promote continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Maintain full compliance with HIQA standards, policies, and procedures.
• Lead the preparation for and response to HIQA inspections and audits.
• Maintain all documentation and reports required under statutory regulations.
• Ensure appropriate and timely notifications are submitted to HIQA and other relevant authorities.
• Lead, motivate and support a multidisciplinary team including clinical, administrative, and support staff.
• Manage recruitment, performance, training, and development of staff.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels and skill mix.
• Implement HR policies fairly and consistently.
• Manage budgets, cost controls, and financial reporting in line with corporate expectations.
• Ensure efficient management of supplies, contracts, and facilities.
• Monitor and improve occupancy levels and resident satisfaction.
• Act as the key contact for residents, families, staff, healthcare professionals, and regulatory bodies.
• Foster strong, collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

• Be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) and hold an active PIN.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a managerial role in a healthcare setting within the last 6 years.
• In-depth knowledge of HIQA standards, the Health Act 2007, and relevant statutory regulations.
• Proven leadership and management abilities in a healthcare environment.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams to deliver high-quality care.
