Humane Solutions is an innovative and award-winning company redefining wildlife management and pest control in Vancouver, BC. As a five-time Consumer Choice Award winner for pest control, we have built a strong reputation for excellence through eco-friendly, sustainable, and high-impact solutions. Since 2016, we have led the industry by prioritizing innovation and solution-oriented services that disrupt traditional approaches.
We are now poised to scale our business, productizing our key niche services and expanding into technology and product development. Our goal is to build upon our solid foundation and unique strengths to drive growth and innovation. To support this vision, we are seeking a General Manager (Operations & Growth) who will play a pivotal role in enhancing our operations, developing scalable processes, and leading our expansion into new areas.
The Role
This is not a traditional management role—it’s a build-and-lead position. We need a self-starter who is ready to step into an evolving system, improve it, and eventually manage a team that they help build. Initially, you will work hands-on with office tasks and operational improvements. As you refine our business processes, you will take ownership of hiring into key roles and structuring the organization for efficiency and growth. The ultimate goal is to transition from operational execution to full-scale management, allowing the business to run smoothly without constant oversight.
Responsibilities
- Phase 1: Hands-on Execution
- Learn and take over essential office and operational tasks
- Identify inefficiencies and areas for process improvement
- Assist with customer service, scheduling, and administrative duties as needed
- Phase 2: Process Development & Optimization
- Document workflows and refine business processes for efficiency
- Develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key tasks
- Implement technology and automation to streamline operations
- Phase 3: Hiring & Team Development
- Identify the right roles needed for sustainable growth
- Recruit, train, and onboard new hires into optimized roles
- Create performance metrics and accountability structures for employees
- Phase 4: Leadership & Full-Scale Management
- Oversee and manage the newly structured system and team
- Ensure smooth day-to-day operations with minimal executive oversight
- Continuously refine processes and improve business performance
- Serve as the key point of accountability for operational success
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Experience: 3-7 years in operations, business management, or a similar leadership role
- Process-Driven Thinker: Strong ability to analyze, document, and improve workflows
- Self-Starter: Ability to work independently and make decisions without micromanagement
- Hiring & Leadership Skills: Experience in recruiting, training, and managing a team
- Technology & Automation: Comfortable implementing tools to enhance efficiency
- Problem-Solving Mindset: Ability to thrive in an evolving and sometimes chaotic environment
- Strong Communication: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
Why Join Us?
- High-Impact Role: You will directly shape the future of our operations and company structure
- Growth Potential: Opportunity to advance as the company scales
- Autonomy & Ownership: Take full control of optimizing and leading the business functions
- Innovative Environment: Work with a company embracing automation and smart workflows
- Exciting Expansion: Be part of a company moving beyond services into technology and product development
If you are someone who thrives in building from the ground up, solving problems, and leading teams, we want to hear from you!
