What do our Graduate Civil Engineers do?

As a Graduate Civil Engineer within the Nelson Water Team at Stantec, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of exciting projects including wastewater, drinking water and stormwater. You will join a team that works on infrastructure projects throughout the Top of the South as well as across New Zealand and internationally. The type of projects you will be working on will be wide, varied and could range from a renewal of a wastewater or water main, a major stormwater open channel upgrade, or a wastewater pump station, to name a few.

You will be based in the Richmond office, less than 15km from Nelson. You will be living in one of the sunniest places in New Zealand, with a vibrant community where the active lifestyle thrives. With easy access for exploring three National Parks including Abel Tasman, Kahurangi and Nelson Lakes and with golden beaches, hiking, hunting, fishing, mountain biking, cafes, craft breweries, vineyards on your doorstep, you won’t have to travel far to have adventures!

You will:

• Work over the entire project lifecycle, from optioneering/concept through to design and onto construction monitoring activities.
• Gain exposure to project management and client management.
• Join a nurturing, and diverse team that works on local, national and international infrastructure projects.
• Collaborate with and learn from national and international industry experts.

What you will bring

You will be a recent graduate with a Bachelor of Civil Engineering (hon), ready to kick start your professional engineering career! You are motivated, pragmatic, and have an appetite for learning and gaining experience across various disciplines.

You will have a strong interest in water engineering and can demonstrate personal leadership qualities and thrive in an environment in which they are challenged.

To be eligible to apply you must:

• Be a recent graduate or due to finish studies by December 2025
• Preferably have a full clean current driving licence
