PURPOSE:
Supports the Office of Sponsored and Title III Program Administration by overseeing the financial management of federally and privately funded grants. The Grant Accountant ensures full compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations (including OMB 2 CFR 200 and EDGAR), provides fiscal oversight, prepares accurate and timely reports, and serves as a financial liaison across departments. This role collaborates closely with the Business Office and the Title III Director to manage all financial aspects of Title III grants, including account reconciliation, expenditure tracking, and audit readiness.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management:
- Oversee and manage the financial aspects of grant programs, including budgeting, forecasting, and tracking expenditures.
- Monitor grant fund usage to ensure alignment with approved budgets and grant agreements.
- Reconcile all Title III-related accounts, process drawdowns, and submit funding requests using systems such as PeopleSoft, Jenzabar, and G5.
Compliance & Auditing:
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and institutional regulations, including OMB 2 CFR 200 and EDGAR.
- Maintain internal controls and documentation to support successful audits.
- Assist with external and internal audit processes by preparing financial records and supporting materials.
Reporting:
- Prepare accurate, timely financial reports for internal leadership and federal funding agencies.
- Provide detailed monthly budget analyses and year-to-date summaries.
- Assist with federal financial reports including G5 reconciliations and other reporting systems.
Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with Activity Directors, the Grant Accounting Office, and the Comptroller to ensure timely, accurate financial transactions.
- Provide guidance and training to staff on budget practices and financial procedures related to grant funding.
- Support proposal development and budgeting for new and continuing grant applications.
Reconciliation & Documentation:
- Reconcile grant expenditures monthly against approved budgets.
- Maintain comprehensive records of grant activities, payroll, budget transfers, and financial correspondence for audit readiness.
