Guest Services Associate - Seasonal School Group Greeter

Job Objective & Safety/Security Sensitive Designation

JOB OBJECTIVE: To provide quality customer service to patrons of the Little Rock Zoo. The Little Rock Zoo is a smoke free facility.
This position is not designated as a safety/security sensitive position and is not subject to random drug and alcohol screening.

Essential Functions

Please be aware that all positions listed below provide "back up" duties as necessary. These positions may also work at various locations through out the zoo.

GUEST SERVICES ASSOCIATE (assignments are listed below)
Admission Associate:
Responsibilities:
  • Provides membership program information and sell memberships
  • Answers guest inquiries related to daily activities, directions, and other guest concerns
  • Answers phone, takes reservations and payments by phone, answers questions
  • Utilize Point of Sale for admission sales, membership sales, cash handling, Credit Card Processing, verifying ID and valid memberships
  • Assist with set up and offer staff support for catered functions and events as needed
  • Cross-trained to offer support to ride operators and school group ambassadors
School Group Greeter:
Responsibilities:
  • Greet guests as they arrive at the Little Rock Zoo and answer general questions related to group arrival, zoo policies, and daily activities
  • Direct guest to the appropriate entrance/ group waiting area
  • Assist with directing school busses and ensuring they park in the designated spots for safe loading and unloading
  • Identify group leader, explain group check-in process, accurately count group in, and take payment
  • Assist with set up and offer staff support for catered functions and events as needed
  • Cross-trained to offer support to admission associates and ride operators
Ride Operator - Carousel/Train:
  • Train Operator must be at least 21 years old
Responsibilities:
  • Inspect carousel/train hourly to ensure all parts are in working condition
  • Reports all maintenance needs to the Guest Services manager(s) on duty
  • Assists small children on carousel horses/train seats
  • Receives money, tokens, and coupons from guests
  • Ensures that all height requirements are followed according to the Dept. of Labor guidelines
  • Maintains a level of safety & awareness for the guests riding the carousel/train
  • Cleans all train cars, carousel horses, chariots, and platform
  • Turns on approved music at the beginning of the shift and ensures it is playing throughout the day
  • Assist with set up and offer staff support for catered functions and events as needed
  • Cross-trained to offer support to admission associates and school group ambassadors

Minimum Qualifications, Additional Requirements and Supervisory Responsibilities

  • ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Must be able to work in various weather conditions.
    • Certain positions require workers to be at least 21.
    • Must be able to work different shifts, weekends, evenings and special events.
