Health and Performance Coordinator- UPMC Aut Even Hospital

Overview of role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting UPMC Aut Even’s inpatient and out-patient orthopaedic physiotherapy service. The role includes clinical and administrative duties that support the Physiotherapy department in the provision of a high-quality service to users.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To assist the physiotherapists to deliver a high-quality clinical service of inpatient and post-operative outpatient physiotherapy as part of the Physiotherapy team.
  • To deliver ward based inpatient physiotherapy and pre-operative and post-operative outpatient physiotherapy under the supervision of a physiotherapist.
  • To liaise with the Physiotherapist regarding patients progress and in organising group activities. To observe the patients behaviour, response and ability and report back to the Physiotherapist.
  • To ensure appropriate record keeping as per JCI standards outlined.
  • To ensure patient dignity always.
  • To work to standards laid out in ongoing protocols and evidence-based management.
  • Carry out duties related to the planning, organisation and maintenance of the physiotherapy programs and department as directed by the Physiotherapist.
  • Deliver programming as required to support injury risk management and deliver exercise-based rehabilitation and return to performance programmes.
  • Develop and run exercise classes for the management of chronic illness and post operative orthopaedic care.
  • To carry out performance testing e.g. isokinetic testing
  • To complete stream orientated and department-based tasks as directed by the Physiotherapist Manager
  • Arrange and carry out duties in a timely manner within settings appropriate to service user needs and in line with local policy / guidelines
  • Maintain professional standards in relation to consent, confidentiality, ethics and legislation

Administrative:

  • Carry out the administrative and clerical duties required to support the Physiotherapy staff.
  • Assist in the organisation, maintenance and / or ordering of equipment and materials used in assessment and treatment, in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Maintain / clean equipment and treatment areas as requested.
  • Comply with department procedures about the recommendation and provision of all assistive equipment /custom made devices.
  • Maintain accurate records of patient assessments and interventions.
  • Keep up-to-date statistics and other administrative records as required multidisciplinary team.
  • As part of the Physiotherapy and multidisciplinary team contribute to service planning and development.
  • Engage in IT developments as they apply to service user and service administration.

Education and Training:

  • Attend induction and mandatory in-service education relevant to the role.
  • Participate in the induction of new staff as directed.
  • Participate in appraisal and the development of a personal development plan in conjunction with the line manager.
  • Participate in team-based development, education, training and learning.
  • To contribute to CPD within the Physiotherapy team.
  • To attend and contribute to CPD meetings within the Physiotherapy department as shift allows

Personnel:

  • Follow uniform policy reference


General:

  • Through the course of the working day or week there maybe a requirement to work in other areas of the hospital in line with patient requirements as requested by your line manager/deputy or nurse management.
  • Staff must produce satisfactory documentary evidence of all training and experience claimed by them, if required to do so by the organisation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Fetac level 5 Physio assistant health service skills module or equivalent
  • Qualification in Exercise Science/Exercise Physiology or similar (Desirable but not essential)
  • Experience in healthcare/caring environment
  • Experience of designing individual and team programmes
  • Experience with working with cohorts with chronic illnesses
  • Set and maintain high standards of work performance and deliver quality consistently and efficiently
