General Description:
The Healthcare Workforce Coordinator will interface with business, local, state, and federal government representatives, healthcare industry leaders and educators to identify, analyze, and plan for educational program expansion that will enhance smart growth of NOVA’s Medical Education Center (MEC). This position will work toward the identification and development of local, state, and federal grant opportunities that will promote the smart growth of the MEC. The Healthcare Workforce Coordinator represent the northern Virginia region in addressing healthcare workforce issues.
Duties & Tasks:
The Healthcare Workforce Coordinator will interface with business, local, state, and federal government representatives, healthcare industry leaders and educators to identify, analyze, and plan for educational program expansion that will enhance smart growth of NOVA’s Medical Education Center (MEC). This position will work toward the identification and development of local, state, and federal grant opportunities that will promote the smart growth of the MEC. The Healthcare Workforce Coordinator represent the northern Virginia region in addressing healthcare workforce issues.
Duties & Tasks:
- Identify, analyze, and plan for educational program expansion.
- Identify and develop local, state, and federal grant opportunities.
- Creates, tracks, and disseminates meeting notes.
- Review, manage, and analyze office budget and purchasing information.
- Prepare reports by collecting and analyzing information.
- Support to the Provost with special projects as assigned.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to ensure effective communication, collaboration and follow through on organizational initiatives, commitments, and issues.
- Support on-off activities as directed by the Provost
KSA Requirements:
- Knowledge of healthcare industry and workforce
- Knowledge of trends affecting the healthcare industry and its workforce
- Ability to plan and organize work.
- Demonstrated ability in written and oral communications and interpersonal relations.
- Conduct literature reviews on assigned topics
- Prepare project related documents, edit and disseminate project-related reports
- Ability to develop and execute a strategic plan
- Demonstrated conceptual skills and problem solving capabilities
- Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data and recognize solutions.
- Ability to work independently and contribute as member of a team.
- Ability to coordinate function, i.e. meetings, events and special projects.

- Ability to research grant opportunities and write grants with required follow up reporting

- Knowledge of college programs, policies and procedures and the ability to interpret and explain them.
- Ability to exhibit discretion and diplomacy while maintaining information security and confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

- Strong interpersonal skills used in daily interactions with a diverse population of internal and external individuals.

Minimum Work Experience:
- Experience in office management and use of the Internet, People Soft 9.0 and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with verbal and written (emails, letters, memos, etc.) professional communications.
- Experience with the creation and/or maintenance of file and database management.
- Experience providing customer service (in-person, email, telephone) in a high-volume environment and responding to a variety of inquiries from diverse populations.
- Occupational experience that required strong organization and attention to detail.
- Experience in the healthcare industry or healthcare environment
- Experience researching/writing grants/proposals

- Experience designing, developing, and implementing campus-wide projects and procedures.
