Hgv/Rigid Truck Driver - Dublin

Job Purpose

Delivering and collection of plant machinery, powered access hire equipment to customers using a Heavy Goods Vehicle in a safe, professional, and timely manner.

Through AER Rents the Group has continued to expand in the hire market in the UK and Ireland with the subsequent acquisitions of DHS Complete Hire, Mainline Group, Welfare 4 Hire, Chippindale Plant and Hudson Lifting.

Key skills & Duties

Oversee the safe loading of the vehicle/trailer and ensure the load is distributed and secured correctly.

Ensure the loaded equipment is correct against the customer’s order and is loaded within the maximum weight allowances of the vehicle.

Follow collection/delivery instructions as per the information on the syrinx system.

Undertake product familiarization for customers

Deliver the customer’s order in a timely and safe manner with respect for the customer’s property.

Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the Rules of the Road - highway code, tachograph legislation and driver hours limits.

Carry out daily checks and report any defects to the responsible person in the correct manner.

Continually monitor vehicles for mechanical and safety issues and complete defect reports where required.

Qualifications & Experience

- Hold a Full ROI Driving license.

- Hold the correct category entitlement (Category C/CE)

- Hold Current Valid Driver CPC

- Hold a current valid Digital Tachograph Driver Card.

 Calm and professional at all times.

 Able to work on own initiative.

 Drive vehicles in a safe, considerate and professional manner.

 Strong organisational skills.

 Experience with GPS Navigation, mapping, and route planning.

 Ability to carry out basic tasks on a computer or handheld device.

 Strong attention to detail

 Competent in operating Digital Tachograph

 Competent in managing own Drivers Hours and Working Time records.

 Able to operate plant equipment (training will be provided)

 Behaves respectfully to everyone and treats people appropriately.

 Actively promotes and demonstrates health and safety.

 Customer service

 Patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Performance measures

- Driving company vehicle safely, considerately, and professionally.

- Working within Drivers Hours and Working Time limits with no infringements.

- Meeting expected delivery timescales

- No fault accidents

- Vehicle loaded/unloaded safely at the start and end of the day.

- Vehicle kept clean and tidy.

- No traffic offences or license endorsements/disqualifications.
