Hr Compliance Coordinator

Job Title: Human Resources Manager – Cannabis Industry

Location: 376 Easthampton Road - Northampton, MA
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Director of Operations

Position Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Human Resources Manager to lead and oversee all HR functions across our cannabis operations. The ideal candidate will have experience in both HR management and highly regulated industries. This person will ensure compliance with state cannabis labor laws, support recruiting efforts, lead employee development, and foster a culture of accountability, safety, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle: sourcing, interviewing, and hiring talent across departments
  • Oversee onboarding and orientation processes to ensure compliance and a smooth new hire experience.
  • Employee Relations
  • Serve as a key resource for employee concerns, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with the company’s values.
  • Compliance & Labor Law
  • Ensure HR policies comply with federal, state, and local cannabis labor laws and employment regulations.
  • Maintain employee records and licensing compliance (METRC, state IDs, background checks, etc.).
  • Training & Development
  • Develop training programs on topics such as compliance, workplace safety, harassment prevention, and cannabis industry knowledge.
  • Support leadership and professional development initiatives.
  • Compensation & Benefits
  • Oversee payroll administration and coordinate with finance/accounting.
  • Administer employee benefit programs and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 5+ years of HR experience; at least 2 years in a management role.
  • Cannabis industry experience highly preferred; experience in regulated industries (e.g., pharma, alcohol, healthcare) acceptable.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and state cannabis regulations.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, start-up or scale-up environment.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or PHR certification a plus.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
