Human Resources Manager

OVERVIEW

We’re seeking a hands-on HR Manager to support our growing scrap metal recycling operation across multiple locations in NC/SC. This is not a desk-only role; you’ll work directly with managers and yard teams to hire, support, and retain a strong workforce while bringing consistency across locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruiting & Hiring

• Source, interview, and hire for yard labor, equipment operators, and CDL drivers
• Partner with managers to fill roles quickly and effectively
• Manage background checks, drug screens, and onboarding

Employee Relations

• Serve as the point of contact for employee issues, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions
• Support terminations and investigations as needed
• Maintain a consistent, fair approach across locations

Payroll, Benefits & HR Administration

• Oversee payroll coordination and time tracking accuracy
• Administer employee benefits and support employee questions
• Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with HR regulations

Performance & Retention

• Support performance reviews and manager feedback
• Help implement practical incentive and retention programs
• Track turnover, staffing gaps, and workforce trends

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure adherence to company policies and employment laws across NC/SC
• Assist with reporting and HR tracking using Excel and internal systems

REQUIREMENTS

• 5+ years of HR experience (industrial, construction, manufacturing, or similar preferred)
• Strong Excel skills (tracking, reporting, basic analysis)
• Experience with payroll systems (Paychex, Proliant, etc.)
• Comfortable in a multi-location, fast-paced environment
• Willingness to travel between sites
• Approachable but able to hold people accountable
• Spanish is a plus
• Travel across five locations between NC/SC - all within an hour

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
