The Ministry of Social Services, Client Service Centre in Regina, is looking to fill two (2) term Income Assistance Worker positions in the Provincial Administration Service Centre. The successful candidate must be available to work 37 1/3 hours per week (EDO every 3 weeks).
The successful candidate will have knowledge of multicultural perspectives, awareness of challenges faced by persons with disabilities, interviewing skills, the impacts of poverty and principles of Social Work. You must have the ability to conduct interviews over the phone and evaluate and integrate these details to assist clients and trustees in setting goals to ensure client participation in community life and financial stability. You will also have the ability to organize and record information and maintain positive relationships with diverse individuals.
You will have demonstrated the ability to:
- Evaluate documents and the data gathered during client interviews regarding life situations; such as issues related to disabilities and other circumstances to determine the extent to which available programs and services can address applicant needs in order to make appropriate referrals and integrate this into a case plan;
- Access appropriate community resources in response to specific client needs;
- Plan and conduct interviews using the telephone in a compassionate manner with individuals who may display a broad range of emotions to gather and evaluate relevant information, assess risk factors and capacities and the need for services;
- Plan, organize, prioritize and assign a high volume and diverse workload. Taking into consideration conflicting priorities, frequent interruptions and the needs of the team, while accomplishing organizational goals;
- Input, update, edit, retrieve, maintain, merge, format and transmit information/data using a variety of hardware/software and/or electronic systems accurately and in a timely manner;
- Organize, present and record information in a clear, concise, accurate and timely manner, both verbally and in writing, which allows others to understand the reason for a decision/recommendation or the need for further action; and
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of clients and team members within the workplace, or community and/or government ministries or agencies.
