The Client Coverage team is responsible for servicing the largest clients (>EUR 250mln turnover) in these sectors in the Netherlands and with the strong ambition to expand into Europe. Within that, the Capital Origination team plays a central role in the roll-out of the Banking 4 Energy Transition (B4ET) strategy for Europe. Capital Origination is focussed on continuous early idea generation and origination efforts across strategic and capital products to develop and maintain the strategic dialogue with European clients in the Energy Transition & Circularity and Transport & Mobility sectors.
You and your job
You will get relevant experience in financial analysis and preparing client presentations, developing these 'investment banking' skills during the internship. It will mean working in a dynamic and challenging working environment. You will get exposure to a wide array of other teams and people within Wholesale, and develop relevant knowledge of the energy (transition) sector. Capital Origination is a relatively new & growing team, offering our new intern the opportunity to further shape the role as part of the internship.
Facts & Figures
- In 2023, Rabobank was involved in 50 new renewable projects, growing our total renewables portfolio to nearly EUR 6.4 billion (220 projects), being one of the top 5 global lenders in renewable energy (#5 position in 2024)
- Out of these projects, 130 projects (solar, wind, geothermal) are already operational, resulting in 6.0 Mt CO2e avoided emissions
- Rabobank has decided to make EUR 30 billion of funding available for the Energy Transition until 2030, of which EUR 10 billion should go to renewable power generation
Top 3 responsibilities
- Work on market research for different sub-sectors within the energy transition value chain
- Participate and contribute to the preparation of client presentations
- Cooperate with colleagues from Client Coverage, RaboResearch, product departments and European branches
The position is within the Energy Transition & Circularity sector team, part of the broader Client Coverage team of Wholesale and Rural, Region Europe, Asia & Africa.

You and your talent
- Master student or third year bachelor student
- Enthusiastic, pro-active, takes ownership and eager to learn
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including computer proficiency (Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
- Good command of the English language
- Interest in the energy transition / energy sector
- Timing: mid-August up to December possible, for a period of at least 3 months
